So I emailed Will Read (because I was bored) and told him to blog more. He responded in his blog (http://tildewill.wordpress.com/) that he would only blog 'tit for tat' when I did. That's the first public call out.
The second isn't so much specifically to me but I took it personally when recently a friend on facebook posted that she is going to run 1,000 miles this year. This has got the wheels in my head turning about making my own 1,000 mile public commitment. I think I can do it... This would mean running about 5 miles on 4 days per week for the entire year. I'm a bit behind (so far in January I have run a total of 26 miles and a total straightline goal would be to have run 58 miles at this point) but I think I can catch up. In the later weeks of marathon training I would expect to log about 50 miles per week (an average of 19.25 per week would make the 1,000 mile goal).
So there you have it. Two public call outs (blog post and 1,000 miles in 2010) and two responses. Of course, very VERY few people read this blog so until you see 1,000 miles on my facebook profile I might still attempt to wiggle out of it.

God bless you anonymous sugar cookie fan with a tree nut allergy
God bless you anonymous sugar cookie fan with a tree nut allergy. Sleep well, knowing that there are hard working men and women at work through the night and weekend to ensure you don't find any trace of a walnut in your sugar cookie. Enjoy that tasty sugary treat knowing that I personally gave up my early Saturday morning to clean and inspect our equipment so you can be sure you are safe from anaphylactic shock.
Eat on, cookie lovers, eat on!

Waterworld
I just watched "Waterworld" the motion picture. I have been wanting to see it ever since we saw the Waterworld stunt show at Universal Studios. It wasn't great. There were some parts I enjoyed though. The villain was pretty good and memorable, and I enjoyed all the mid 90's references (intentional and unintentional). For example, the villain keeps praising St. Joe, a reference to Joseph Jeffrey Hazelwood who was the captain of the Exxon Valdez oil tanker (had to look that one up). Other 90's era stuff I saw were those short baseball caps, almost like a biker's hat. There was also this bungee jump thing where the main hero jumps off of a hot air balloon with a rope around his ankle. Very 90's. That and the fact the movie stars Kevin Costner.
The only thing that really bugged me about the movie was it seemed like the music was blatant... you know the type. It gets all triumphant when the hero is winning the fight with trumpets and stuff, and then the villain gets the upper hand and the tubas come in, then the love interest comes up and the string instruments start, and then they make the great escape and it gets all full orchestra with the choir going "oOOH ahhh oohh ahh" to make it more dramatic. It just seemed really obvious.

I don't know how they spent so much money making this movie. I guess they built all the sets on the ocean and shot everything from boats and helicopters, which I could see adding up.
Probably wasn't worth it in the end, given the final product.
For anyone keeping track...
today was indeed a better day than yesterday. I might venture to say it was downright above average.

Worst... Day... Ever...
I'm pretty sure I just got home from the worst day of my professional life. I won't go into specifics here of course I'm no blog noob and know that's a mistake, but suffice it to say, tomorrow must be a better day. Only one way to go from the bottom right?
